When we are all busy and working hard, expressions of love can feel hard to squeeze in to our day to day. This February, we are taking a moment to talk about some easy ways to show your affection without derailing your day – featuring tech, of course!
Try setting up a google alert– handy, customizable, and simple to set up. Maybe make one for your daughter’s favorite band + her hometown! That way you will always know when they’re coming to town, and can engage in one of her favorite topics.
Does your partner have a tech gadget they use every day? Their headphones? Their ereader? The PlayStation controller? Throw it on the charger for them! This small act will buy them hours of use, and let them know you were thinking about them while you were apart.
For the beloveds who live afar, try sending a quick voice memo to include them in a part of your day. It doesn’t require them to be free at the same time you, like a phone, call and has more intimacy to it than a text message. For grandparents, consider letting your kids just chat away. What seems small to you may be huge to them. (You can also look into the video messaging app, Marco Polo! Leave video messages when you’re available and watch those you receive on your own schedule.)
Do you and your sibling use the same music streaming service? Many offer the ability to build a playlist collaboratively. That way when you hear a tune you know they’ll like, it takes two clicks to share it!
A lot of us enjoy a game or two on our phones in the moments between meetings, appointments, or events. Consider asking your friends which games they enjoy. Even adding one more element of common ground goes a log way to showing someone you care about them.
What are you doing to celebrate Valentine’s day this Friday?
