September is here, bringing colder temperatures and an official end to summer. Students all over the country are heading back to school and refreshing their wardrobes, art supplies, and digital technology. Here are some of SpitzerTech’s top recommendations for an easy transition back into the school routine.
It sounds silly, but shut down your devices. We’re not talking about just closing the laptop or turning off the screen on your phone. We recommend regular full shutdowns for your technology. These machines are designed to run updates and complete internal diagnostics when shifting between power modes. Give them a chance to do it, and they will thank you with increased performance!
Scan your spam folder. Sometimes legitimate emails are flagged as spam, which can delay communication and cause serious confusion. If you’re starting at a new school, job, team, or organization, it’s always good practice to add those emails to your safe senders list and check your spam folder for anything you might have missed.
Take a moment at the end of your day to assess your desk’s cable situation. We are often in a hurry while plugging things in. Taking a moment to tidy your desk and cables will make your life a lot easier when you need to rearrange or swap devices in the future.
Lastly, make sure you are regularly backing up your critical data. Whether you use a cloud service, an external hard drive, or offsite storage, making a backup is quick and can save you serious heartache. Nothing ruins the mood of a brand new school year like realizing you lost your homework!
Happy school year 2026-2027, everyone!
